Moving Insurance

While Ocean Moving and Storage is a reliable and reputable moving company, insurance from Moving Insurance or Baker's Insurance is highly recommended. No matter how careful someone is, the possibility of danger still exists.

Depending on the option you choose (as listed below), you will be able to obtain these prior to or on your actual moving day. If you have a homeowner or renters policy, your goods may be covered while being moved, however, please check with your agent or carrier prior to the move.

Option A: Limited Liability
As a licensed Carrier with the U.S.D.O.T., we are required to provide limited liability coverage at no charge to the customer. Under this option, the maximum liability is limited to $0.60 per pound per article, for all items indicated as damaged or missing at the time of delivery. Shipper and / or agent has full authority to accept the shipment and enter into this agreement.

Option B: Replacement
Replacement value coverage (FVP) will provide repair, replacement, or reimbursement in the event of damage or loss. The minimum declared value of shipment under this option is $5,000 or $4.00 times the actual total weight (in pounds) of the shipment, whichever is greater. The approximate cost for FVP is $8.50 for each $1,000 of declared value FVP is offered with a $250, $500 or with no deductible. The amount of the deductible will affect the cost of your FVP coverage.

Option C: Full Replacement Value Insurance
Full replacement coverage is more comprehensive coverage than valuation, and generally offers more options (deductible levels, higher coverage). Because this coverage option is a bit more involved, insurance needs to be obtained prior to the actual move day. Certificate of Insurance
Ocean Moving & Storage maintains in excess of one million dollars worth of General Liability insurance. Nearly every commercial building requires insurance certificates prior to any work performed on the premises. The amount of insurance a company carries is an important factor when choosing a mover; so, should your current or future building require more than the mover is covered for, the building will not allow them to work in the building. We maintain a substantial amount of insurance for our client's peace of mind.

Remember, moving is the best time to think about such aspects as office content and loss of business insurance. This type of coverage will protect your belongings after you move into your new space, protecting against the potential of fire and theft. Fortunately, this coverage is relatively cost-efficient and very comprehensive.
