Want your moving experience to go as smoothly as possible? We encourage you to get to know the moving company you are thinking of hiring before signing or committing to anything. The two questions below are sure to help you not only get to know your company, but also ensure that they are trustworthy!

  1. How will I be charged? By the hours, flat rate or something different?

This should always be the first question you ask. Almost all movers charge their clients by the hour, however, some do charge a flat rate, that is to be paid AFTER the move has been completed. If a company asks you to pay a flat fee, in full, up-front, you may want to look further into their credentials.

  1. Is your company insured and will you insure my items during the move?

If you hope to work with a trustworthy company, then knowing they are insured should be at the top of your list. If a company is not insured or does not offer any additional insurance for your items, a red flag should go up in your head. Most, if not all, credible, professional movers are insured and offer some level of compensation for potentially damaged items. This should not be confused with full coverage for damaged items; a company should be able to offer, at the very least, some contracted protection for the items they are dealing with.
